MY TRIP TO MARKET

Wednesday, July 6, 2016

The time of year is here when we make the short trek to Atlanta to meet and talk with others in the industry and see what new products will be available for next year. I was honored to be asked to tag along this year and experience the process of shopping and purchasing formal wear first hand.

The first day for me was all about dresses! I accompanied Geneva, our Trussville store manager, and Brittany, also from Trussville to the morning meeting of IPA (International Prom Association). It was a great opportunity to see the plan for this upcoming prom season and the awesome ways in which technology can help us market our products. After that it was my very first runway show featuring Madison James prom and bridesmaid dresses. I am far from an expert on dresses but believe me, prom 2015 is going to be the best!

After the show it was up to Geneva and Brittany to review what we saw at the show and determine what they think will sell for homecoming and prom next year. All of the dresses that were featured on the runway are hung up all along the walls in the studio space so you can it see and inspect them more closely. We went down the list and gave our opinions. After that it was time to reconnect with the others and enjoy a tasty dinner.

Next blog post - all about the tuxedos!

BRIDESMAID DRESSES: NO RULES APPLY

Wednesday, July 6, 2016

As recent as ten years ago, the length of dress selected for the bridesmaids at most traditional weddings in the US were set by the clock. Morning and early afternoon ceremonies could sport short dresses, afternoon weddings carried the tea-length option, and anything 4:30 pm or later would be floor length gowns. Slowly and surely those rules have relaxed to today's anything goes.

If you fall in love with dresses that flow to the floor but are getting married at 10:00 am, go for it! If your maids come in all shapes and sizes, and would really feel more comfortable selecting styles for themselves, and you're ok with it, go for it! If guys can wear undershirts and socks representing their favorite super heroes, then you can absolutely have all different color and length of dress in your lineup.

It has been popular for quite some time now for maids to wear a slightly different style of dress in the same color to make everyone feel comfortable. However, you might like the idea of same dress, different color. Perhaps you want to celebrate each ladies unique style and give them no style and color parameters at all-it's your day, your way!

When selecting dresses for the special gals that make up your team, it might be a good idea to ask for color and style suggestions from your photographer so the ladies will look great for photos. Have Fun!

Wednesday, July 6, 2016

Mr. Burch Formal Wear in Trussville has just gotten in the new Tiffany line for Prom 2013.  The Trussville location might be the only Mr. Burch store that carries dresses and accessories, but Tiffany isn't the only line they carry.  You can also find a complete selection of prom dresses from Faviana,Mori Lee, Sherri Hill, Night Moves, Crush and Dave and Johnny.

It might seem a little early for prom but the season will kick into high gear in January.  Looking for wedding formal wear?  Trussville also has bridesmaid dress selections in Mori Lee, Forever Yours andAllure.

Trussville might be celebrating its first birthday in the new location, but the staff is far from begginners.  Store Manager, Geneva, has been with Mr. Burch for 25 years and has vast knowledge and experience with formal wear.  "I love helping customers and picking out what makes them smile."  We hope Geneva will helping our customers smile for many more years to come.

You can visit the new location and meet the staff at 5954 Chalkville Mountain Road, Birmingham , AL 35235.  Have questions?  Call Geneva at (205) 661-3330 or email attrussville@mrburchformalwear.com.

We aren't the only formal wear in Birmingaham, but we want to be your choice for tuxedos and formal wear.
